TRAINING AND CRISIS, THE DEBATE IS

Posted by Joseph Albet | | 2 comments

Dear employer, according to market research by consultants DBK, the training sector for companies that moved 1165 million, will moderate its growth rate to 4% or 5%, compared to 7% in recent years. This contention is caused when companies hire fewer services, and this reminds me of that which in times of crisis is the first cut is the formation, although the marketing also say the same and related to them, the advertisers. Basically, what is showing is that it does not really noticeable results in the short term, in times of crisis is eliminated, or at least reduced significantly. And this is normal talking about intangibles that are difficult to measure. Now, a year ago, two years, so there were good and invertíem. What has changed? Some believe or not believe in what we can provide these intangibles?

In the knowledge that they are the intangible value. The grapes to produce wine, but the difference between good wine and the other is poor understanding of its producers, knowledge acquired in the day and on the theory that integrates the experience of years and years make wine, wine in other words. But a good wine business would be if we knew the sale, and sale is also a field that is based on knowledge: the brand, distribution channels, price, profit per bottle, etc.. All this knowledge is applied, we can acquire knowledge through trial and error, or that we acquire through training. And so to all businesses and all businesses regardless of size. The size difference is only the complexity of knowledge required.

Reducing the cost of training in time of crisis means that part of the knowledge that we thought we needed to do without. Put another way, before gastàvem bad and now we do what is strictly necessary. I believe that it is not that all this is due to the incorrect approach to training that make some companies, a debate for some time, certainly not yet resolved: the training, cost or investment? If a cost, makes perfect sense that we reduce spending, not expecting any return, but then, what sense did before spending money without reward? The training is not part of the wage bill, training is not an instrument of motivation, training did not cover the shortcomings of a weak personnel management. The training can only be returned to the company investment in the form of applied knowledge and allows us to be more efficient and more competitive.

Oh! And if the training does not meet my requirements, I try to create it, I am supposed to meet a need for my business or not?

I think that businessmen of our country will continue its commitment to training. Now in times of crisis to be "pampered" human capital more than ever.
